Love Doesn’t Erase Harm

by Tawnia Lives

Love doesn’t erase harm.

You were taught that certain roles—parent, partner, elder, leader—meant something sacred. That holding the title alone made someone worthy of loyalty.

But a title does not erase accountability.
A name, a role, or a bloodline does not excuse harm.

What you are feeling is the weight of emotional labor. The painful work of trying to reconcile abuse with the world’s demand for unconditional loyalty.

The truth is: loyalty without safety is not love. And honoring someone’s role should never come at the cost of dishonoring yourself.
