Growth teaches us that not everyone deserves access to your light. Protecting your peace means no longer chasing approval, but choosing to share your love only where it’s honored and returned.

As we grow, something shifts. We stop caring so much about what people think. We start paying closer attention to how they treat us.

We stop chasing approval. We stop believing that keeping everyone happy makes us better people. Because the truth is, you are who you are — with or without their permission.

You’re either loving and kind, or you’re not. And I spent too many years giving that love and kindness to people who couldn’t, or wouldn’t, give it back.

Now I know: if they can’t return the same energy, they were never meant to hold the light I carry.

This realization feels like freedom. It’s the life I choose now — and the love I protect.
