I Stopped Asking

One day, I stopped asking why he did what he did.
Because that mindset—that need to understand—was complex, and it was unhealthy.
To truly understand his actions, I would’ve had to go to a place of unwellness, a place I’ve never been.
And I realized, I didn’t want to go there.
I was grateful I couldn’t understand.
Grateful that my mind didn’t work like his.
And that’s when I knew—I no longer needed to know why.
